Course Aim

To meet the needs of individuals seeking to gain the relevant formal qualification required to become a registered trainer of thoroughbred horses.

Career Opportunities

Participants in this program will receive a solid grounding in all areas of training race horses.  Persons successfully completing this course will be eligible to apply for a license to train Racehorses.

Entry Requirements

The most successful students will possess a strong commitment to horses and have an appropriate level of relevant experience in the handling and riding of horses.

Delivery Mode

Full-time competency based training course, utilizing the classroom and learning laboratories, practical and work experience. This program is highly innovative, incorporating work experience with leading Racehorse Trainers.

Course Duration

Local Students: Level 2 – 20 weeks

International Students: Level 2 – 25 weeks

Assessments

All assessments are competency based.  Assessments will be conducted throughout the course in the classroom and in practical work situations.   The primary focus is on the ability to apply knowledge and skills required to meet the relevant industry standards for training race horses.

English Requirements

For International students whose first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is required for course entry. English proficiency classes available upon application.
