Course Aim
A course of study for individuals who intend to work in horse related industries. This is a higher level of study for a number of pathway options in the Equine Industry.
Career Opportunities
Participants in this program will receive a solid grounding in all areas of the horse industry. Persons successfully completing this course will be eligible for employment in the thoroughbred industry as strappers and stablehands; responsible and accountable to the Trainer for efficient management of the training program and day-to-day operation of the stable.
Entry Requirements
Minimum age – 16 years. Applicants must be in good health. A reasonably high level of physical fitness is essential. A genuine interest in horses and their care is essential.
Delivery Mode
Full-time competency based training course, utilizing the classroom and learning laboratories, practical and work experience. Our course is challenging, fun and innovative, making the program both interesting and stimulating.
Course Duration
Local Students: 40 weeks
International Students: 44 weeks
Assessments
All assessments are competency based. Assessments will be conducted throughout the course in the classroom and in practical work situations. Basic riding skills will be comprehensively evaluated. The primary focus is on the ability of the student to apply knowledge and practical skills when performing workplace tasks, to the required level and standards as identified by the relevant industry bodies.
English Requirements
For International students whose first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is required for course entry. English proficiency classes available upon application.
