Course Aim
To develop general horse management skills commonly used in the horse racing industry, with special emphasis given to the development of skills required to ride racehorses in trackwork.

Career Opportunities
Participants in this program will receive solid grounding in all areas of the horse industry.  Persons successfully completing this course will be eligible for employment in the thoroughbred industry as exercise and track riders; responsible and accountable to the Trainer for the exercise and riding of track work within the training program and operation of the stable.

Entry Requirements
Minimum age – 15 years.   Applicants must be in good health.  A reasonably high level of physical fitness is essential.  A genuine interest in horses and their care is essential.

Delivery Mode
Our course is challenging, fun and innovative, with a practical focus on developing riding skills at the College. This is enhanced by a work experience program that includes riding for Racehorse Trainers.

Course Duration
Local Students: 40 weeks
International Students: 44 weeks

Assessments
All assessments are competency based.  Assessments will be conducted throughout the course in the classroom and in practical work situations.  Track riding skills will be comprehensively evaluated to meet the relevant industry standards.

English Requirements
For International students whose first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is required for course entry.
English proficiency classes available upon application.
